Fall Tips for Warm Weather

While the rest of the country might be gearing up for a cold winter, we get to sit back and relax knowing that we chose a sunnier and warmer place to live. There will still be cold days this winter for us, that’s a given, but at least we won’t be inundated with snow storms and other natural incidents that can be dangerous or frightening. We just need to keep our air conditioners running well.

That’s the big thing for us. We still have plenty of warm days ahead, and in the springtime as well. Just take a look and evaluate all of the 90+ degree weather days we have on the horizon!

This blog post is going to be about a few longevity tips for your air conditioning. Fall is not as hot as the summer, but it’s a point where systems in dire need of AC repair in Wellington, FL can start to falter as we continue to use them.

1. Invest in Maintenance or Repairs

When was the last time you had your air conditioner maintained? Was it during the spring? Then you’re probably still good until next spring. However, if it was last year or even before that, then you might be in need of another maintenance appointment or even a repair.

Maintenance can go a long way in curbing problems, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of an air conditioner, and even giving you peace of mind knowing that it’s going to last for the next few seasons. Take a look at some of the perks of joining our maintenance program and you might get some serious bang for your buck!

2. Periodically Clean Around Your AC

Weather events will still occur in our area, even if they aren’t necessarily cold. Things like hurricanes, tropical storms, and even windstorms can cause debris like dirt, dust, sticks, pebbles, and critters to get stuck in our air conditioning systems and around them.

Try and clean around the outdoor cabinet of your AC system so you can remove anything that might be blocking the vents. This can go a long way in improving the power and efficiency of your system, as well as keeping it from breaking down.

3. Change the Air Filter

The air filter is a component in your HVAC system that should be changed every 1-3 months. This includes during the fall or spring if you’re using your air conditioner during that time period. Since we still have many hot days ahead of us, we’d advise changing the air filter now in the fall.

For heat pumps that can both heat and cool a home, the air filter is going to need changing even more regularly, since that same system is going to be heating your home when things get chilly this winter.

4. Unblock the Vents Indoors

Did you invest in some new furniture or move some boxes around before sending the kids back to school this fall? Then some of the vents in your home might be blocked. Make sure you unblock any and all vents to allow for maximum airflow in your home.
